STAY INFORMED

Ensure you read and understand all safety labels on the vehicle. Always replace any labels that are damaged or missing.

STAY SMART

Never activate the cart unless you are seated in the driver’s seat, whether you plan to drive or not.

STAY ALERT

Exercise caution on steep inclines, where high speeds can lead to vehicle instability.

Guidelines for Safe Operation of Your Tara Vehicle

1. KEEP ARMS AND LEGS INSIDE THE VEHICLE

Open-air driving can be enjoyable, but resist the urge to extend your arms or legs outside the vehicle. This can lead to serious injuries if your vehicle passes too close to obstacles. Dragging a leg outside the cart while in motion is especially dangerous, as an unexpected curb or rock could cause severe knee or ankle injuries.

2. USE SEAT BELTS

While seat belts may be uncommon in traditional golf carts, they are increasingly required by law, especially in low-speed vehicles (LSVs). If your cart isn’t equipped with seat belts, have them installed as an essential safety feature.

3. ABIDE BY ALL TRAFFIC RULES

Always adhere to standard traffic laws, even when operating a golf cart. Ignoring stop signs, traffic signals, or driving recklessly because it’s “just a cart” puts everyone at risk. Stay responsible by following all road rules.

4. GOLF CARTS ARE NOT AN ALTERNATIVE TO DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Operating a golf cart under the influence of drugs or alcohol is still illegal and can result in DUI charges. Treat your cart as a vehicle and never drive impaired. Additionally, ensure your cart is equipped with proper lighting for nighttime visibility.

5. DRIVE DEFENSIVELY

Golf carts are at a disadvantage on roads shared with larger vehicles. Always anticipate the actions of other drivers and maintain a defensive driving approach to keep yourself and others safe.

6. AVOID DRIVING IN EXTREME WEATHER

Golf carts perform poorly in extreme weather conditions. Exercise caution on wet roads and avoid driving in snow or icy conditions. Golf carts lack the technology to handle these environments safely.

7. DON’T ALLOW CHILDREN TO DRIVE GOLF CARTS

Even if a driver’s license isn’t required in your area, golf carts should only be driven by those familiar with operating electric vehicles. Children under 16 should not drive golf carts.

8. AVOID OVERLOADING YOUR CART

Stay within the cart’s capacity limits. Overloading with passengers or cargo can compromise the vehicle’s stability and handling.

9. PROTECT YOUR VALUABLES

Golf carts are easy targets for theft. Secure your belongings in a lockable compartment or take them with you when leaving the vehicle unattended.

10. PERFORM SAFETY CHECKS AND MAINTENANCE REGULARLY

Routine maintenance is key to a long-lasting, reliable vehicle. Have your cart inspected at least twice a year to ensure everything is in proper working condition.

11. BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS

Install rearview mirrors if your cart doesn’t have them. Always check your blind spots and behind the vehicle before backing up. Never assume others will yield the right of way.

12. YIELD TO PEDESTRIANS

Pedestrians always have the right of way. Striking someone with a golf cart carries the same legal consequences as hitting them with a car.

13. AVOID OFF-ROAD DRIVING

Tara golf cars are not designed for off-road use. Please stick to smooth, paved paths or well-maintained grass. Off-roading can damage your cart and lead to unnecessary risks.

Stay Safe

Golf carts and low-speed vehicles offer efficient, enjoyable transport when used responsibly. By following the guidelines, you’ll help keep yourself and others safe on the road.
Steep inclines can cause the vehicle to accelerate beyond normal operating speeds. To maintain control and avoid potential injury, apply the brakes to manage speed. Operating the vehicle above its maximum specified speed can damage the drivetrain components, leading to loss of vehicle control. Such damage is considered abuse and is not covered under warranty.
While the electromagnetic brake (EM brake) can help reduce speed when the accelerator pedal is released, the driver should still apply the brake defensively when driving on steep roads
